Special Olympics Iowa is holding the annual Davenport Polar Plunge® onNovember 6at Whispering Pine Shelter, Scott County Park. The Polar Plunge is a unique opportunity for individuals, organizations, and businesses to show their support for Special Olympics Iowa athletes and Unified partners by taking a dip in frigid waters. BIG 106.5's Mark Manuel will be emceeing the event and hosting the post-Plunge Party again this year.

Individuals and groups are invited to participate in the plunge by plunging solo or as a team, tossing a boss, sponsoring an individual or team, or volunteering at the event.If plunging into frigid water is not your thing, you can register as a chicken to raise funds and receive a T-shirt and other prizes. 

Each plunger or chicken must raise a minimum of $75. The more money an individual raises, the more prizes they receive. Prizes will be awarded at the post-party, where participants can also enjoy food, drinks, and music while warming up. 

“We are very excited to be returning to in-person events and holding the Davenport Polar Plunge to benefit Special Olympics Iowa athletes and Unified partners,”shared Megan Filipi, Law Enforcement Torch RunDirector. “New this year – participants will be plunging in our state-of-the-art mobile plunge unit.”

All proceeds benefit Special Olympics Iowa and help to continue to provide year-round athletic, health, school, and leadership programming for Special Olympic athletes and Unified partners across Iowa.
