Packers dump depleted 49ers 34-17 Thursday night

A game that some thought may not happen due to the pandemic ended up being played in California after all.

Four touchdowns from Aaron Rodgers were enough as the Green Bay Packers roughed up the San Francisco 49ers 34-17 on Thursday Night Football, with both teams impacted by injuries and coronavirus.

Both teams lost several players to the NFL's coronavirus protocol, including positive tests for both teams. In addition, both squads were hit hard by injury in recent weeks, especially on the side of the 49ers, who played about half of their opening week starting lineup in Thursday's contest.

Rodgers threw two touchdowns apiece to Davante Adams, who leads the NFL with eight receiving scores, and Marquez Valdes-Scantling, to lead the Packers to victory.

Green Bay's offense piled up 405 total yards in the win. While the defense gave up 337 yards, most of it was in garbage time, with at one point Davante Adams out-gaining the entire 49ers offense on his own in the second half. The Packers dominated the time of possession and didn't turn the ball over while forcing two takeaways and a fourth-down stand.

With the win, the Packers are now 6-2 and don't play again until Sunday, November 15, when they take on the beleaguered Jacksonville Jaguars.
