The Milwaukee Brewers for the second consecutive evening against the Philadelphia Phillies took an early lead, then almost immediately got behind in part because of shoddy defense, only to have a late rally fall short.
Tuesday night in game two of their four-game series, the Brewers gave up their one-run lead in the third inning when J.T. Realmuto’s chopper to third was misplayed by Travis Shaw, opening the door for a five-run Philly frame.
Philadelphia won the game, 6-5, dropping the Brewers by one run for the second consecutive night.
More troublesome for Milwaukee was having to place Christian Yelich back on the injured list because of back problems. Yelich played the night before after missing the previous 17 games due to the same issue. Before Tuesday’s content, he said he just never felt good in his return game despite getting two hits.
Wednesday night, the same two teams will play again. Freddy Peralta (0-0, 2.45 ERA) will pitch for Milwaukee while former Brewer Chase Anderson (1-3, 5.40 ERA) will go for Philadelphia.
