Updated Packers Draft Strategy Following Big Free-Agent Signings

At the outset of the offseason, the path in the draft seemed very clear for the Packers: find an edge rusher or two, a safety, and help along the offensive line. Free agency has found answers to some of those questions, so how will it impact the Packers' draft strategy?

Edge rushers come at a premium in the NFL, and while the NFL Draft is littered with several promising prospects this year, with the signings of Za'Darius Smith and Preston Smith, it allows the Packers to find value at other positions. Green Bay still needs defensive help at virtually every position, and there can never be enough weapons for Aaron Rodgers. And, with two first-round picks, the Packers have the Draft capital to move around to find the best players for their setup under new head coach Matt LaFleur.
