The Celtics Are Not Better With Kyrie Irving and Gordon Hayward

Kyrie Irving and Gordon Hayward

The standards are different for the Eastern Conference in the NBA. LeBron James has taken his talents to the west coast and the east did not sit idly by thinking they could take their foot off the gas pedal. Toronto Raptors and Philadelphia 76ers made some excellent moves with their roster and Milwaukee Bucks and Pacers continue to thrive. Pacers surprisingly hold the 3rd spot despite losing their star player.

What's the excuse for the Boston Celtics being in fifth place? Even though they took some heavy losses in talent last season, their team still made it to the Eastern Conference finals and with their team fully intact now, you'd think they are the automatic favorite in the east. Last night they took an embarrassing loss to a team in Toronto that will most likely be the obstacle they'll face down the road in the playoffs.

Dan Patrick reacts to that game the other night quoting something Candace Parker of the Los Angeles Sparks observed from that game:

She said something that jumped off the TV. She said, "The Celtics are playing like they don't like each other." And then they started to cite examples there. You would've thought with Kyrie back and Gordon Hayward back even at 75% that they would be a whole lot better. And they're not. They're not better with Kyrie Irving and Gordon Hayward out there.

Watch Dan Patrick break it down further.
