The First Alert Forecast from Meteorologist Kevin Phelps

A First Alert Day is in effect through noon Saturday for dangerously cold wind chills and snow.  Wind chills are running -15° - -30° this morning.  A quick moving clipper will bring snow to the area this afternoon. Since the arctic air is in place it will be a very fluffy and light 1”-2” snow event.  Arctic air remains in place this weekend with passing flurries both Saturday and Sunday with highs in the teens.  A stronger system rolls into the Midwest Sunday into Monday.  This will look to bring several inches of snow to our area.  While it’s a little far out I am confident enough to say shovels, plows and school closings are likely.  Another batch of arctic air is likely next with highs not getting above zero some days and near record lows by next Wednesday.

TODAY: Light snow this afternoon. 9° Winds: SE 5-10 mph.

TONIGHT: Partly cloudy and cold.  Low -4°.  Winds: SE 5-10 mph.

TOMORROW: Flurries. High 12°.
