LeBron James took to his podcast to criticize the media for placing way too much emphasis on winning championships and not enough on the body of work for players throughout their careers. Dan wonders if LeBron’s motivation for speaking up is ultimately just about bolstering his case to be considered the G.O.A.T.
Dan Patrick: “Is LeBron saying, ‘Just because I don’t have six titles doesn’t mean I can’t be the G.O.A.T.?’ Now once again, I’m going to read into this a little bit more because I don’t think LeBron is just sticking up for everybody on winning championships or not winning championships. It feels like he might say, ‘Hey, I got all the stats. I’ve got everything and I’ve got four titles. I don’t have six, but I’ve got four. Why can’t I be the greatest of all time?’ Whether he is saying this or not, that is the first thing I thought of is: what is the ulterior motive of saying this.”
